This vision trip will help you understand not only the organization and its work, but the city of Medellin, its people, and how its history has shaped it. The itinerary is built so that you will experience the incredible city of Medellin through the eyes of those who have called it home, alongside intentional experiences at the SOLAHIS centre, where you will hear from the staff, gain hands-on knowledge of the work and impact, and spend time interacting with the kids who are benefiting so greatly from the work being done. Safety is sometimes a question for visitors to Medellin, and you will be hosted every step of the trip by our team, who have experience and history navigating this amazing but sometimes intimidating city. You will be staying in the famed El Poblado district as a home-based and then travelling to various sites each day from there.

Ideally, arrival is on Saturday, Nov 7

Accommodations: Landmark Hotel

Fees: Each trip participant's fee of $1500 will cover in-country transportation, hotel accommodation, and meals.
If a participant chooses to bring a spouse, there can be a discount on that person’s participation fee, assuming double room occupancy.

Lunches and dinners are included in trip costs; each participant takes care of his or her own breakfast/morning coffee as they see fit (typically at the hotel).

Travel: In order to provide maximum flexibility for each participant to arrange their schedules and preferred travel, each trip participant will arrange their own air travel and such costs are not included in the trip participation fee.

Draft Itinerary:

Day 1 – First Day & Sightseeing 

  • First full day in Medellin.

  • Visit to Pueblito Paisa. 

  • Orientation dinner/introduction and first steps to understand the city. 

  • Evening debrief.

 Day 2 – Ministry Introduction 

  • Walk through the food, classes, and weekly calendar to show daily rhythms. 

  • Presentation Morning — where the team and professionals share their work. 

  • Lunch at the centre. 

  • Dinner with staff and youth translators. 

  • Evening debrief.

 Day 3 – City Tour & Cultural Context 

  • Guided city tour & lunch. 

  • Gondola, metro, and local experiences to understand daily life. 

  • Discuss cultural and historical context over dinner (violence, inequality, and resilience). 

 Day 4 – Community Walkaround 

  • Walk-stop-explain format to see the community SOLAHIS is working in firsthand. 

  • Lunch at the centre.

  • Time with the kids at the centre.

  • Team dinner for reflection and debrief. 

 Day 5 – Vision + Closing 

  • Focus on SOLAHIS’s long-term vision, key projects, and partnerships.  

  • Shopping Opportunity.

  • Debrief and celebration meal.
